WebWe launched the grandcarers support scheme in 2013 to recognise the grandcarers in our community. As I said, we are the only state in Australia that recognises them. The scheme provides a payment of $400 for the first grandchild they care for and $250 for each additional grandchild. This is an automatic payment. We set up this WebGrandcarers often need extra support and encouragement from other family members, especially when they are still new to being the primary carers of their grandchildren.
